R-CIS requires a great deal of self-care. When they are at school,
children with R-CIS often rely on school staff to provide the support
and encouragement they need to carry out their self-care. Schools also
have a legal responsibility to accommodate the special needs of children
with R-CIS.
Whether your child is at school, day care or staying with a friend,
you may want to share the information provided in this section to
educate others about R-CIS.
A goal of the National R-CIS Foundation of America is for children
with R-CIS to be safe while at school and day care and have the same
access to educational opportunities as other children. The Foundation
meets this goal by providing educational materials to help
parents/guardians and school personnel understand how to best meet the
medical and academic needs of a student with R-CIS.
